3 popular restaurants slim down

I eat out once or twice a week and usually go to local restaurants that have healthy options. But scouting out national chains with lower calorie food can come in handy, too. Thankfully, it seems to be a trend that is gaining traction.
A few weeks ago, 19 chain restaurants announced they are going to serve up healthier children’s meals. Now three popular chains are slimming down for us big kids.

Gordon Biersch Brewery Restaurant has added a line of 10 “Lighter Side” items, most with fewer than 575 calories. They include several chicken dishes and salads.

Starbucks rolled out Bistro Boxes – small meals under 500 calories, like Chipotle Chicken Wraps, Sesame Noodles, and Tuna Salad. This move follows the chain’s recent addition of bite-size desserts.

Cheesecake Factory will have its “SkinnyLicious” menu at all of its locations by the end of September. It includes 15 entrees under 590 calories and 12 appetizers under 490.

Do you look for healthy options when you dine out?
