Do you like to eat out… but want to know which menu items are the healthier choices? Check out HealthyDiningFinder.com - a Web site that lists the nutrition information of restaurants nationwide, from fast food to fine dining.
The site features nutritious choices at nearly 30,000 popular restaurants including P.F. Chang’s, Chili’s, and Burger King. Information includes calories, fat, saturated fat, cholesterol, sodium, carbohydrate, sugars, protein, and fiber.
Nutrition experts pick the menu items for the site, looking for choices that feature lean protein, fruits and vegetables, and whole grains. The criteria for entrées: no more than 750 calories, 25 grams of fat and 8 grams of saturated fat. The cut-offs for appetizers, side dishes, and desserts are 250 calories, 8 grams of fat and 3 grams of saturated fat. Whenever possible, dishes lower in sodium and cholesterol are also featured.
So, how does it work? All you have to do is type in a zip code to find restaurants near you. You can also narrow the search by price range (under $10, $11 to $20 or $20 or more), as well as take-out, delivery and catering options. When you click “submit” you get a list of restaurants that match your selections. Then just click on any restaurant logo to see a full page of information about that restaurant, including nutrition profiles for its featured menu options.
