If you’ve been to Starbucks in the past couple of weeks you may have noticed the new “Skinny” Lattes or Mochas advertised in the stores. A “tall” one has just 90 calories. And I must say, they are quite yummy. But they are far from being new drinks…

Actually, the same drink I always order at Starbucks just has a new name. So, instead of a “tall decaf nonfat latte with sugar-free hazelnut (or whichever flavor I’m in the mood for…) syrup,” now I can just order a “tall skinny decaf hazelnut latte.” I save myself a few words, but the calories are the same.

Calling the drinks “skinny” may make more customers aware of the nonfat option so maybe they’ll chose a lighter beverage instead of one loaded with calories.

Funny thing - I ordered a “skinny hazelnut latte” the other day, and the cashier said, so, that’s a “nonfat latte with sugar-free hazelnut syrup?” Call it what you will - it’s the same drink… and you’ll save on calories either way.
