Your kids might be eating foods that are worse than you think. A new study from the University of Calgary finds most food products aimed specifically at children have poor nutritional content even though more than half of them make positive claims on the front of the packaging. Researchers found nine out of 10 food items had high levels of sugar, fat or sodium.

This is not surprising to me at all. I always tell clients “Don’t believe ANYTHING on the front of a package.” Instead, you must turn the product around and read the ingredients. To make food “kid friendly”, manufacturers add more sugar, artificial sweeteners and harmful additives and colors to make it more appealing (and addictive!). Sadly, most of these foods already have high sugar and sodium contents to start with!
