Doctors call it “super obese” – it’s a category for the new epidemic of children as young as two and three years old who are extremely overweight. According to the Centers for Disease Control, obesity rates among children younger than five have doubled over the last two decades. This is serious stuff – doctors say obese toddlers are at risk of high blood pressure and type-2 diabetes.

Man, this makes me so sad. If we want to reverse this trend, I really think that education in our public schools is the first front. Why not totally re-invent Home Ec class so that kids can learn about whole foods and how to purchase and prepare them?
This is so sad. Do they still have home ec classes in schools? I remember taking that class when I was younger and I loved it. I think also teaching parents how to meal plan, grocery shop, and cook quick meals would be greatly beneficial. It seems like everyone is always too busy to prepare good meals. That could really help.
