12,000 calories. That’s how much Olympic Gold Medalist, Michael Phelps eats on an intense training day! The calories vary for other athletes at the Beijing Games, depending on their size, sport, or event. And they get to choose from several international cuisines at the Olympic Village dining hall, which seats 6,000. I just saw this info and wanted to share – there’s much more on what the Olympians eat to compete here from ABC News. Enjoy!

Wow, 12,000 calories a day! I read an article showing what Michael Phelps eats for breakfast and it was incredible. It was basically my whole day’s worth of food! Of course all of the Olympians are burning an insane amount of calories each day. It’s just so amazing what the human body can achieve.

This makes me laugh, I eat about 9,800 calories per week! ha ha!
The numbers just seem so astronomically high! But then, I guess their daily activities really have them burning calories – but still, that’s a lot of calories!! And if you look at Michael Phelps body – he’s not overeating at all. Amazing, though!
