Yay! The lights are back on at our house! After five days in the dark, it was a much welcomed surprise (a day or two earlier than the predicted comeback) to come home to the comforting hum of power. I wanted to share a few things I learned this week when I was without electricity:
- Laundry can wait. Ice cream can’t (unless you like yours to be like soup)
- We have a gas water heater – whew!
- Cell phones can really come in handy
- I never knew I could enjoy a simple cold glass of milk so much
- I really don’t need to check my email 24/7???
- This was just an inconvenience. My thoughts go out to the REAL hurricane victims.
Thanks to everyone for your kind comments! It’s good to be in touch again with all of you in the online world. FFTV will be back in full blogging-force next week with lots of exciting things coming your way! Stay tuned…

Yay for having power again! That is ALWAYS a frustrating experience, having to do without.
Glad you are back on line!! Yeah, hurricanes are the grief that keeps on giving
Those folks in Houston will be suffering long after the media has moved on to the next story.
Enjoy your weekend
Glad that things are getting back to normal for you.
We learned the same thing with our ice cream.
Enjoy your weekend!
“I really don’t need to check my email 24/7???”
I hear ya!
Thanks everyone! It’s good to be back!
OK, after the local power outage I must admit I feel a bit spoiled. I mean, honestly, how much do we rely on electronic gadgets (i-pods, laptops, cellphones). The whole community freaked out. All of a sudden ice, batteries, and candles became precious and rare. We should all be thankful for the everyday conveniences that we take for granted.
