I just read that cloned food may already be in our food supply. The thought of cloned food bugs me – there’s just something about it that I think is wrong. But what really gets me is that there is no way to tell whether the food out there is from conventional animals or from the clones.
The Food and Drug Administration says it would be impossible to know whether food and milk from the offspring of cloned animals is in the U.S. food supply because there is no difference between cloned and conventional products.
In January, the FDA said meat and milk from cloned cattle, swine and goats and their offspring were as safe to eat as the meat and milk from traditional animals.
Critics argue we don’t know enough about the cloning technology to ensure the food is safe and that the FDA also needs to address concerns over animal cruelty and ethical issues.
I just want the cloned stuff labeled so I can avoid it. What do you think – should cloned food be labeled? Would you eat it?

“The Food and Drug Administration says it would be impossible to know whether food and milk from the offspring of cloned animals is in the U.S. food supply because there is no difference between cloned and conventional products”.
WHAT???!!!
And these are the people protecting our food supply.
Scary
Totally scary, DR. And I just don’t understand how they can NOT label the stuff so people can decide for themselves whether they want it.
Hmmm….a bit scary indeed! Yikes!
I try to avoid franken-foods, but I’m sure some slip by! What, a moment on your lips, a “mutatant” on your hips
YUCK. The only way to avoid the cloned meat and dairy and the GE/GMO produce is to purchase organic. Unfortunately, GE/GMO food has been in our food supply for years and it is not labeled either, unlike in the EU where each GE ingredient must be indicated as such on food labels. If the FDA and USDA thinks it safe, then they shouldn’t have a problem with labeling it truthfully. I don’t foresee that changing, unless we stand up and fight it.
(GE= genetically engireed / GMO= gentetically modified organism)
A good film to watch is “The Future of Food” by Deborah Koons-Garcia. You can purchase it or rent it on Netflix. A great documentary!
I would probably eat cloned foods without much issue, but I find it very disturbing that FDA hasn’t kept cloned and non-cloned animals separate. Doesn’t give me any warm fuzzies about the people in charge of our food supply!
I wouldn’t eat it! They don’t know enough about it yet and I am not going to risk my health for some cloned meat. EWWWW It just seems like that is stepping into dangerous territory.
Yes, I’m a little skeptical of the whole cloning issue. I definitely think labeling is in order because I want to know what I’m eating and make my own choices.
Obviously, we been altering food for centuries. This, in fact, may be the latest and greates, even though it sounds like science fiction. The problem is we just really don’t know if this is good or bad. It would be nice if we were told about the additives, hormones, chemicals and now genetic alterations.
Sounds totally disgusting! Labeling is definitely in order…I won’t be buying it!

I’m not a scientist, but I think cloning involves copying DNA. I wonder why this would be unhealthy? I don’t like the thought of cloning ANYTHING just because I think living things have to die……but that’s another issue all together.
Would I eat meat that was cloned? Maybe I already have and don’t know it.
I had to pose this question to some of my friends and all of us just dropped our jaw when asked this question. It almost made me rethink eating food all together knowing that cloned food may already be in our food supply. I agree and hope that they let me know which is which so I can avoid it. Now I have to go rent a plot of land in California to grow my own garden just to be sure but then again, they’ll probably find a way to contaminate the land as well. I just want to eat healthy food and know what I’m eating.
I think it is already in our food supply. I was just complaining to my DH the other night about the lack of flavor in the roast we had for Supper. I had to keep putting seasoning in it to give it any flavor at all and it had a spongy texture. This is not the first time, I have bought this type of roast. Also the other night I was making meatloaf and if it hadn’t been for the tomato taste and onion, it would have tasted very flat. I know it’s not me. It the same recipe I have always used and at my age, I should still have my taste buds intact. It is troubling to say the least. And don’t get me started on the last tomato or orange we ate. I expect tomato to taste like that in the Winter, but this one was just odd in texture and taste.
I agree with Katt Williams! There is starving children in other countries who would eat that crap. Here in america we already have enough to eat. A B C D E F MOOOOOOOOOO.
