If it seems like more kids have food allergies these days, it’s not just your imagination. A new report from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) finds about 3 million U.S. children have a food or digestive allergy – up 18 percent over the past 10 years.

The CDC says eight types of food make up 90 percent of these allergies: milk, eggs, peanuts, tree nuts, fish, shellfish, soy and wheat.

Most kids outgrow food allergies, but they can last a lifetime in others.
