Wouldn’t it be nice to be able to switch off your appetite from time to time? Scientists are trying to help by developing foods that trick the body into feeling full.
Experts at the Institute of Food Research in Norwich, England are coming up with foods that slow down the digestive system, which then triggers a signal to the brain that suppresses your appetite. The research is preliminary, but some doctors say it could be key in fighting the obesity epidemic.

Gosh, I don’t know. Maybe it’s a good thing if it will help people avoid obesity, but how helpful will it be with people who eat despite feelings of fullness? I think that half of the battle is learning to listen to your body and actually stopping when you get that full feeling. Plus, modified foods in general – maybe a good thing, but maybe not. I’ll be watching this one with interest!
