Here’s another reason to make sure your kids eat their breakfast -
A new report finds children who eat breakfast every day are half as likely to be obese as those who skip it. Researchers say kids who don’t eat the morning meal are more likely to snack on foods high in fat and sugar before lunch.

This is true for kids and adults! I am a huge fan of eating breakfast every morning, even if I’m not hungry. It gets your system started, helps with metabolism, and gives you energy. There is a saying that goes along the lines of
“Eat breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince, and dinner like a pauper” I totally agree with this, though it is difficult to do sometimes
Definitely true for both kids and adults. By mid-morning I would be ravenous if I skipped breakfast. Then I would be more likely to grab a cookie or binge on whatever is in sight! I believe in the 5 meals a day plan. (normal-sized breakfast, lunch and dinner with an apple and yogurt or diet bagel or bialy and fruit in between meals) So I encourage my kids to eat a healthy snack in between meals so they are not starving at mealtime and, as a result, overeating.
Before my journey into the healthy lifestyle I would always skip breakfast and since I have started eating breakfast I have noticed that I don’t get hungry at nights any more and I don’t binge from my diet.
Take care,
Andrew
Hello, your piece about breakfast and obesity is “spot on”. It is extremely important to start the day with a good, nutritious breakfast for children and adults. Your comments about parents setting the example is so necessary for parents to hear.
We have a really creative and interactive optimal weight and healthy lifestyle program for children. We are seeing very exciting and encouraging results for the kids and parents who are following our program. A huge emphasis in our program is parental involvement and commitment. My partner, Dr. Lisa Ramey, and I just did an interview on Fox 35 in Orlando, Fl. These are some of the exact points we emphasized in the interview and in our program. http://www.myfoxorlando.com/dpp/mornings/021109YoMedics_Weight_loss_for_kids#46555268-1
