If I have to recommend one exercise to someone, walking is number one on my list! It’s great for beginning exercisers, and has benefits beyond the actual physical activity, especially if you can walk outside in nature!
It’s so true, Dr. J – and it’s one of those exercises most anyone can do. I have been enjoying a bit of Indian summer here and taking advantage of walking outside!
I notice that when I hold my stomach muscles taut while walking briskly, they do firm up. Unfortunately, I haven’t done anything lately and my tummy is hanging over my jeans.

I have lost 30 pounds since the first of the year, by eating smaller portions and exercising. I have been away for a couple of weeks on business and three pounds have come back. This site has been a good inspiration to get back on the move and lose the extra pounds. I could lose a good hundred pounds still, but my goal is to lose at least 60, which I believe is doable and will be able to maintain.
