We’ve talked about the dangers of abdominal fat here before. Now a new study published in the New England Journal of Medicine finds too much weight around your belly almost doubles the risk of dying early, even if you’re otherwise slim. Researchers say the ratio of waist to hip size may be a better way to predict obesity-related death than the standard Body Mass Index (BMI) system, which measures body fat based on your height and weight.
