Women who get pregnant after they have weight-loss surgery have easier pregnancies and healthier babies than obese women who become pregnant, says a new report in the Journal of the American Medical Association. The study finds pregnant women who lose weight after bariatric surgery may have lower rates of complications like gestational diabetes and preeclampsia. Their babies are also healthier and may be less likely to be born prematurely.
Just last week, another study found weight loss surgery may improve the success rate of IVF.
