Yes, it’s time to start thinking about New Year’s Eve and of course – bubbly! How about a little game of “Did you know?”
Did You Know?
- A four-ounce glass of champagne has about 75 calories.
- True champagne comes only from the Champagne region of France – just 90 miles northeast of Paris. Just remember this – all champagnes are sparkling wines, but not all sparkling wines are champagnes.
- The label tells you the sweetness of the bubbly. It goes like this:
brut: extremely dry – less than 1.5% sugar
extra sec or extra dry: slightly sweeter – 1.2-2% percent sugar
sec: medium sweet – 1.7-3.5% sugar
demi-sec: sweet – 3.3-5% sugar (dessert wine)
doux: very sweet – over 5% sugar (dessert wine)
Will you indulge in a bit of bubbly as you ring in the New Year?

Definitely! But I prefer the Rose Champagne, particularly Moet & Chandon’s Imperial Rose. I love the pale pink color, the complex fragrance and the notes of berries. I’ve also tried Krug’s Rose, which is probably the best Champagne I’ve ever had but it’s quite difficult to get. So worth it with only 1.2% sugar.
Never developed a taste for the potent potables!
Love the wine charms, however
Dr. J – What will you be drinking when you use the wine charms? (I am mailing them today, BTW)
Maudrey – I have never had Rose Champagne but it sounds yummy! I will have to try it sometime.
Great info! I am actually planning a New years Eve party and incorporating a champagne tasting into it. I still get confused about the difference between brut and extra dry! And yes, I will be indulging in some bubbly this New Years Eve. I love champagne!!!
A champagne tasting – what a great idea, Katie! Too fun! I’ll have to try that sometime.
Can’t do the carbonated drinks, but I’ll ring in the year with a nice glass (or two) of cabernet! Happy New Year!
We’ll be using our awesome fitness charms on New Year’s Eve to indulge in bellini champagne cocktails….champagne, apricot brandy and apricot juice…yummmmm!!
I never acquired a taste for champagne. But, I’ve been drinking hot buttered rum that I mentioned a couple of weeks ago.
Looking forward to the wine charms! Thanks so much!!
My cousins in California have a vineyard that makes a non-alcoholic wine!! Don’t tell on me, no one can ever tell
Cabernet sounds good, too! Happy New Year, Caroline!
Yum, Sheri! That sounds so fabulous – I’ve never had apricot juice (or apricot brandy!) in champagne! Enjoy the charms.
Dr. J – So, everyone just thinks you are drinking the real thing? Sneaky you.
Happy New Year,
I am looking forward to this year loving my healthy, slender, tone and in shape body.
Happy New Year!
I’m having me a Lychee Martini tonite! woo-hoo!
Just wanted to say it was so fabulous to meet you in person this year. Thank you to the prize winning angels
Happy New Year!
Geez, I almost forgot about the bubbly! What was I thinking. Heading to the grocery store right now.
