If you’ve seen Oprah lately, you may have noticed the Queen of Talk has gained some weight… again. In the January issue of O magazine, Winfrey says she now weighs 200 pounds and has “fallen off the wagon” when it comes to healthy living.
She tells the Associated Press she’s mad at herself for gaining back 40 pounds since 2006, and says a thyroid problem made her develop “a fear of working out.”
“I’m embarrassed,” she writes. “I can’t believe that after all these years, all the things I know how to do, I’m still talking about my weight. I look at my thinner self and think, ‘How did I let this happen again?”’
Winfrey says her goal is no longer to be thin – instead, she wants to be strong, healthy and fit. She is expected to talk candidly about her weight on The Oprah Winfrey Show in January.

Oprah is human, just like the rest of us. And although her life, problems and situations may be different than ours, we are each still responsible for ourselves. And sometimes, unfortunately, we forget to take care of ourselves to the best of our ability. I’m sure she’ll have the support of many people in her journey back to her strong, healthy and fit body. She’s done it before, so odds are in her favor that she’s on track to be able to do it again. Hopefully, she’ll inpire a few people along the way.
I meant, inspire … hee!
I love her she is so real! She is such a role model for so many people and she is the first to let you know that she is just as human as we are.

Good point, Mara – she is just human afterall.
My first instinct was to think that she shouldn’t have made her dieting so public because then there were expectations from everyone outside of the fishbowl that all celebrities live within. However, her motives were good ones, as I realized that she was only trying to help motivate other obese people to lose the weight also. This just shows that she is genuine and human. She falls off just like any of us. I hope that she regains her motivation even for health reasons only.
Actually, I think she is only “mad” at about 60 lbs! The other 140 is probably a very healthy weight for her
Funny, Dr. J
It makes you realize that no matter how many personal trainers, chefs, nutritionists, etc. Oprah can hire because she’s wealthy, she still struggles just like the rest of us. It’s almost reassuring that even the Almighty Oprah has problems staying on the weight loss wagon. I’m glad she’s more focused on being healhty though, since that’s more important than being Hollywood skinny, especially as all of us age.
