We know the obesity problem is bad. But now the latest statistics from the federal government show the number of obese American adults outweighs the number of those who are considered only overweight. The National Center for Health Statistics says more than 34 percent of Americans are obese (over 72 million people), compared to 32.7 percent who are overweight. And just under six percent are “extremely” obese.
