Are women’s brains hard-wired to eat when food is around? A new small study suggests when they are faced with their favorite foods, women are less able than men to suppress their hunger. Researchers say their findings – published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences – may help explain the higher obesity rate for females.

I can kind of relate to this topic. The last few weeks my “brain” has been conflicting with my reason. I want to eat and eat and trying to get a hold of this temptation is really hard.

These findings make me sad and frustrated as a woman. Yet I know it to be true. I think this is the reason why I enjoy going out to eat with female friends more than male ones. My male friends make me feel guilty whenever I give into my cravings because they just sit there and watch. My female friends, on the other hand, tend to join in on the eating.
Now that I’m thinking about it, maybe I should go out with my male friends more. That way, I feel the guilt, eat less and shed some of those excess pounds I’m still carrying from the holidays.
Hmmm Maudrey – maybe eating out with men is the answer.
