No, not me – I’m not Catholic and I don’t drink pop.
But our pal Rebecca over at Does This Blog Make Us Look Fat? is trying to let go of her almost-30-year soda habit. Can she do it? Find out here. And give her some encouragement when you stop by!
Anyone else ever tried to give up pop?

I’ve never tried to give it up completely, but I do have to “reduce” every now and then. Like so many things, if you’re not paying attention, excess can creep up on you.
i so NEED to give it up. like right now. (as soon as I finish the one I am drinking!)
I love how you midwesterners say pop.
I know there is nothing healthy about drinking pop. I’ve cut way back on it. Usually, I drink water, or apple and orange juice. Still, I do like to have an occasional Root Beer. Not all the time, just once in awhile

I pretty much gave it up 10 months ago. Every now and then ( I think about 3 times since then) I have had one and thought YUCK……….doesn’t taste good anymore. I prefer my green tea these days
I did a little review of some of the core rhythms dvds that I’ve tried so far on my blog today. Having fun with it
!!!
workout mommy – So, what do you East Coasters say? (BTW, I actually usually just call it all “Coke” … like “want to go get a coke?”)
Dave – I’m lucky I just don’t like soft drinks. I used to drink it through college then got on a sparkling water kick and have been stuck ever since. But once or twice a year – in the summer – I too, must have a root beer – IBC always!
I have not had much pop since I realized that it did not help my GERD problem. Giving up pop keeps the GERD problem under control along with the Pepcid I take every day.
Annette – Funny how our taste changes, isn’t it? There are several things I used to eat and now have no idea why I thought they were good.
I gave up soda a few years back – and it was one of the best things I did for my body. Today…I’ll occasionally have one. Very limited, though. And, what has happened is that I’ve come to really desire water much more. And that’s been great (well…water, and several cups of coffee…)
I’ve dramatically reduced the amount of soda I drink, I don’t keep it in the house anymore at all. I stick to coffee, tea, water and the occasional crystal light. The biggest change I’ve noticed is less heartburn, less bloating and a lot more more money in my wallet!
I know at the high school and Jr. High here the kids in sports are not allow to drink pop during the season because it adversely effects their playing performance. So just think about how much more energy you will have. Funny thing though they still have a hugh row of pop machines in the commons area of the school. They don’t want to give them up because they are a money maker. I guess our children’s health is worth a little extra income for the school!
Laurel – good reason to give up pop!
Lance – I’m a total water-holic, myself. It all started when the doctor told me I couldn’t have caffeine…
stbeam – interesting – can’t wait until they find another “money maker”
