If you’re a meat lover, you might want to cut back a bit. A new large study finds older Americans who eat too much red meat and processed meats are more at risk of dying from heart disease and cancer. Researchers say over 10 years, eating the equivalent of a quarter-pound hamburger every day gave men a 22 percent higher risk of dying of cancer and a 27 percent higher risk of dying of heart disease compared to those who ate the least red meat – just five ounces a week. And women who ate a lot of red meat had a 20 percent higher risk of dying of cancer and a 50 percent higher risk of dying of heart disease than women who ate less.
How much red meat and processed meat do you eat?
Me – I don’t care for the stuff and only eat poultry and fish.

I stopped the red med long ago. I maybe have a serving every couple of weeks. If I have a choice of steak or salmon I usually choose the fish
Like the esteemed Dr. Hubbard, I do not eat meat either. Perhaps studies like this will help people make the smart choice.
