Do you have a hard time remembering how much water you drink a day? I know I do. Last month I asked you how you keep track of your H20 consumption. Here are some of your answers. Drink up everyone!
housewifeheather: One thing I was thinking about trying… is wearing 8-10 bracelets on one wrist. I read this and thought it a great idea!! After each cup of water just move a bracelet to the other side to keep track.
ladyjay: I have a great way to keep track, though it’s my friend Sue’s idea. She has eight beads strung on a string so that they can move up and down. Keep the string around your water bottle and move the beads as you drink your 8 oz. It’s a little hard to expain but it’s very cool and works well.
tobi1128: I don’t really have a “method” but I can tell how much water I am drinking by how many trips I make to the bathroom, haha. I also always try to have a water bottle by my side at all times of the day.
ska8rmom: I have a pad of post-it-notes by my desk and make the old fashioned little stick marks so I know how much I’ve drank. The post it notes works well because I stick it on my book when I go to lunch and when I go home!
girliefriend: I fill 4 liter bottles before bed each night, and try to finish them all the next day. I don’t refill again till the next night, so I always know where I am. When I used individual bottles, I just saved the bottles on the counter till I was done for the day.
Anyone else have any creative ways of keeping track?

Good tips! My greatest success has come when I’ve used a 32-oz. mug at work. One mugful in the morning, another in the afternoon, and I’m done. Unfortunately, I began using the mug for storing pens and now I use the paper cup method, in which I mark on the side of the cup any time I refill it. Not as successful as it requires too many trips to the kitchenette.
I bring two 1 liter Camelback jugs to work so that I have water at the ready and I can track how much I’ve had and I can slam it to make sure I’ve finished it all : )
Cammy – You crack me up! That’s all I have to say.
nicoleatkinson – Love that you slam it to get the job done when necessary!
I’ve been using Spark People to track my water, exercise and food, and it really helps.
I usually drink 4 liters daily and managed to keep my fat statuquo, but passing water frequently is somehow boring
Diana – I have a few friends who do the same and really like it, as well!
[...] all your water in” how do you keep track? Here are a few great suggestions from Fatfighter TV on how to make sure you’re fully hydrated. Bottoms up! Or should we say Bottoms [...]
I have a water bottle from Thermos called Intak (with a little mark over the A, think it’s supposed to be said In take) that’s got a ring around the neck that you can twist. Each twist clicks up an extra number, so you can track up to 6 20oz servings.
I don’t generally BOTHER to track my water anymore. Since I gave up soda, I drink a ton of water, at least 100oz a day.
Lynn – I have the Intak water bottle too – love it!
I use a 1L reusable water bottle that I fill up once in the morning and again in the afternoon while I’m at work. That way I know I at least got a full 8 glasses of water in, but I also drink tea and some additional glasses of water with dinner. I make sure to keep the 1L bottle at my desk or in the car w/me during the day so I always have water close by.
Make habits & you don’t have to count! Drink 1 glass in the morning when brushing your teeth (& I take my vitamins) & 1 glass in the evening when brushing your teeth before bed (no it does not make me wake up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom) Now only 6 to go. One before each meal fills you up so you are not eating food to fill you up and gets 3 more out of the way. Drink one with your lunch & one with dinner. Drink that other one as soon as you get home – it will curb the urge to eat something the minute you hit the door. That’s 8
I love how you plan your 8 glasses of water – such a great idea! Thanks for sharing it.
HEM, the planned schedule approach is what I use and recommend to others. I have a slightly different style, though. I recommend to drink 2 cups (1 pint) at a time, 30 to 60 minutes before each meal plus 2 cups before bed. This adds up to 8 cups. Drinking water BEFORE the meal instead of with the meal actually helps to curb appetite by taking away thirst masquerading as hunger by making sure you are hydrated even before you start eating. Drinking water with a meal actually can cause the stomach to empty more quickly so you don’t feel satisfied for as long. Also, drinking that first pint of water (preferably hot) first thing in the morning helps boost hunger for breakfast and eating breakfast is itself helpful for weight control.
