As part of its BK Positive Steps program, Burger King has added three Kids Meals that are lower in calories, fat, and sodium.
The meals have:
- No more than 560 total calories
- Less than 30 percent of calories from fat
- Less than 10 percent of calories from saturated fat
- No more than 10 percent of calories from added sugars
- No more than 600 milligrams of sodium
One of the new Kids Meals includes two bite-sized hamburgers with fresh apple slices, low-calorie dipping sauce and calcium-fortified apple juice. Another one is a hamburger plus the apple slices and juice. The third is chicken tenders with apple slices and fat-free milk.
Being healthy is all about making small changes, right? Glad to see BK is trying.

Kids meals are great for girls on the go who ate all the almonds in their snack bag the day before.
I also appreciate that they seem to be moving in a better direction.
I have to say, I detest fast food places for so many reasons, but sometimes they are unavoidable. Because of that, I’m thrilled with the somewhat healthier options being offered – apple slices with Happy Meals, and now this. It makes life a little easier as a parent. Now, if we could just get them to change their excellent marketing so that our kids weren’t so eager to eat there in the first place.
If they really wanted to make a difference, they would offer fewer unhealthy meals!
