Could we soon see traffic light nutrition labels on our favorite foods? New research shows shoppers are five times more likely to identify healthy food when they see color-coded nutrition labels than when the labels use numbers to show the same information. Traffic light labeling uses colors to rate the nutritional content of food according to how healthy it is. One version uses a panel with red, yellow, or green dots to rate the food’s salt, sugar, saturated fat and total fat content separately. Another uses just one colored dot to give an overall rating.
