As a big push to get Americans moving, the U.S. running industry has launched the first National Running Day. Across the country, people will lace up their shoes and yes… hit the ground running!
It’s a day to come together as a nation and take strides toward leading healthier and fitter lives. Check out all the events going on today here.
Join in just by going for a run today. Then go to runningday.org to connect with other runners, find information on running events going on in your local community, course-mapping tools, training tips, and more.
Personally, I’m not a runner… but I will definitely go on a walk today to show my support for getting active!
Are you going for a run today?

I received a notice about this on Monday, and I considered trying (again!) to run today, but then I thought better of it and did my regular gym workout.
But I *thought* about runners while I was riding the bike.
Wishing everyone a safe run today and every day!
Well…..I ran up the stairs yesterday and had a great fall. That’ll do it for me. Maybe next year.
LOL!! Who knew? I ran a 7 miler this morning.
PS. Yum Yucky need to change her name to “Humpty Dumpty.” (Not that she’s in anything but great shape) Seriously, when I see the stair climbing machines at the fitness center, I’m amazed that anyone doesn’t fall!
Cammy – I think it should just be a National Exercise Day so everyone can do what they enjoy, not just run, but at least it promotes an active lifestyle.
Yum Yucky – Sorry about your fall! Are you okay?
@FatFighter Oh yeah, but I felt like I jarred and squashed everything on the right – foot, ankle, knee, shoulder. I wasn’t doing my stair workout, just being impatient and running up to get something. The older I get, the clumsier I am. Let that be a lesson to all of ya!!!
Oh no! But I will cheer everyone else on!!
I’m not a runner!
Dr. J – You participated without even knowing it!
I ran in place and did butt kicks with Jillian Michaels and the 30 day shred-does that count?
Katie – I think it definitely counts! Go you!
