She says a dream pair of jeans can be a great motivator for losing weight and keeping it off. Kami says it’s about being lean and green and getting into your dream pair of jeans… by making healthy choices that are also earth-friendly. See more about Kami and the book here.

I always try to use my reusable bags and do not take the plastic bags offered by the stores. I recycle all my plastics by taking my granddaughter to the recycle area at our local Ralph’s and she gets the money and learns about recycling, too. Because of this she is very recycle concious, too.
I buy the one gallon water jugs to take to work and pour into my cup instead of using individual plastic water bottles. It’s cheaper and creates less trash.
I support local farms from which I purchase organic whenever possible and support local restaurants that serve organic.
I walk for local errands(and am trying to do this more often). I am getting better at remembering my reusable bags for any shopping. I am trying so hard to be “more green” so I am a work in progress.
I havent driven my car in a long time. I ride my bicycle everywhere now and I take my canvas bag to the store with me because I no longer take the plastic bags (I get my groceries from Earth Fare every day now)!
Hmmm, well, we live in the suburbs and I try to use what we can grow. We have a small veggie garden, and lots of fruiting plants, like bananas, figs, mangos, loquat, and tropical cherries AND guavas. The first harvest from the pecan tree was 65lbs!
Oh, and then there’s the flock of chickens that we hatched out as a homeschool project. They live in a mobile coop in the backyard! The chickens help me compost veggie and table scraps AND fertilize the yard. They also eat the bugs and weed seeds. We’re (well, *I’m*) eagerly waiting for home grown eggs, LOL!
I keep canvas bags in the car, for whenever I pop into a grocery store, unplanned
I try to use as much natural light as possible in my house to keep my electricity usage down.
When grocery shopping, I usually bring in the ‘green’ bags. I keep them in the car so as not to forget them.
My husband and I use canvas bags to grocery shop.
I reuse my ziploc bags that I use to store fruits and vegetables.
jen – I have a hard time remembering those reusable bags sometimes, too!
Marie – I wish I could be a biker girl, but I am too klutzy! Must keep feet on the ground!
craftyharper – wow, how cool is all that??? I’m very jealous of your harvest.
Always try to walk to run errands that are close by….
meaning walking to do the errands!!!
Instead of driving my dog to the dog park which is less than 5 minutes away, my dog and I walk to the dog park. I have a Min Pin and it helps to wear him out.
Melissa – What is a Min Pin?
In an effort to fit into my jeans, I’ve been trying to eat a lot more fruit and veggies, but in honor of the planet I try to buy local produce (local AND organic is a big plus!) whenever I can. Not as much fun to eat that big juicy nectarine when I’m picturing all the pollution from the 18-wheeler that trucked it across the country.
moonchild – good idea to visualize the truck carrying the produce – really puts things in perspective, doesn’t it?
