While last week’s chocolate giveaway was fabulous, some of you were a little bummed that it was not edible. Well, this week, you can have your chocolate and eat it too!
A few weeks ago, Weight Watchers (WW) sent me some of their Pecan Crowns, which are so yummy! But like any other chocolate or sweets, you have to be careful not to eat too many or the calories will add up! Remember, these are a treat.
Depending on the flavor, one piece of Weight Watchers Chocolate Candies by Whitman’s has 45-54 calories, 2-3.5 fat grams, and most have just 1 WW POINTS value per piece. Check out all 11 flavors over here.
This week, Weight Watchers is giving one lucky FFTV member a Stocking Stuffer prize pack that has an assortment of WW chocolates PLUS vouchers for WW Sweet Baked Goods.
To enter for a chance to win, just tell me what you are doing to keep from gaining weight through all the temptations of the holiday season. Me – I’m trying to stick to my regular exercise routine and I eat a few nuts before parties so I don’t devour everything in sight!
See you in the comments!
Contest runs through midnight EST this Friday, December 11, you have to have a U.S. mailing address to enter, and we will use random.org to pick the winner.

I’m going to fill up on lean proteins and veggies, drink plenty of water and hot teas!
Mmmm… hot teas!
What works best for me is keeping up with my exercise and tracking what I eat, just as I normally would. When a holiday gathering occurs, I just relax, eat the foods I *really* want and avoid feeling guilty afterward. And I of course plan workouts and healthy meals/snacks ahead of time to keep me in that balanced state of mind and prevent me from going overboard for an extended period of time (it’s oh-so-easy to let one day of indulgence turn into days, weeks or even months).
Yes, that one day of indulging can so easily turn into days of more of the same!
I joined the Y the day after Thankgiving. I am loving it!! I was working out at home, but was starting to lose my mojo. This is an exciting change for me and for my family. What a great way to spend the day after Thanksgiving!!!
Sharon – good for you for joining the Y. I’m glad you are liking it!
I’ll probably do more walking outside. I have 5 dogs that require a “walk” from time to time. I was walking all 5 at once, but will instead walk them one at a time. This will get me out of the house more. I generally walk them for 15 to 30 minutes in a “walk” session, and about 1/4 mile in distance. That ought to burn off a few extra calories.
George – OMG, you have 5 dogs??? That’s a handful! Good idea to walk them separately to burn more calories!
I have not baked any Christmas cookies or made my fab candies. Instead, the hubby and I visit the fitness center in our building 6 days a week, even if it’s to walk on the treadmill for 30 mins.
Rose – Wow, I’m impressed that you have held off on the baking! And good for you for keeping up with your exercise.
Definitely trying to just stick to my normal exercise routine and watch portions. We will be going to Jamaica for vacation and we are going to try our best to stay active like we are at home (they have spin classes, we’ll walk on the beach, play tennis and other fun stuff in the warm weather). Also skipping on the baking of my favorite sugar cookies with blue frosting LOL
Angie – Oh, I am sooooooo jealous that you are going to Jamaica! Please send me some of the warm temps, K?
Here’s the insane depths I go to to prevent even further weight gain during the holidays. At this point, I’m maintaing the fat it seems…I DUCT TAPED my cookie tins and froze 7 batches. This way, if I get tempted, I really have to go at the tin with sharp instruments to get to the goodies, and after I think about the permutations I have to go through, I say forget it, and don’t eat.
Carol – I am cracking up at your duct tape method! Hey, whatever works, right?
I like your idea of eating nuts before hand. Its good to fill up on “good” foods as to not over eat. I keep a container in the car. Of course I keep my regular exercise routine going, which definitely helps, but as I always try to do, I practice moderation and portion control. A half a slice of pie tastes just as good as a whole. Drink plenty of water and fill up on meats and veggies first.
Mike – It’s so true about the half slice of pie. If that’s all you put on your plate, you know that is all you get and you are somehow satisfied with it. Thanks for stopping by!
I will be following a tried a tested method to beat the Christmas belly… burning off all the chocolate, mince pies and slices of Christmas cake in the gym… BEFORE I EAT THEM!
Liam – Good idea to plan on burning off all the goodies before you eat them!
I don’t know what is required in the spot for Website!
I will just continue to eat my regular meals and not have any goodies around. Walking in the pool is fun and burns lots of calories faster than walking on hard surfaces!
Hey Anita – Not having the goodies around in the first place is what works best for me! Out of sight, out of mind…
BTW, you can just leave the Website slot blank.
Thanks for stopping by!
I have a great gym that I love, with wonderful suffortive staff and clients! I am writing down everything I eat. Right now, several of us are on the wame diet. (I’m in the middle of a horrible chest cold right now, so the workouts have stopped until I’m better – or at least no longer contageous, but I look forward to starting back up as soon as I can.)
Elizabeth – I am fighting a cold, too.
I hope we both feel better soon!
i try to fill up on just water- not things like egg nog and alcohol!
i have stepped up my exercize routine
I always make sure to keep up with my exercise routine, and to make sure I am eating very clean and healthy during the days I don’t have any holiday get-togethers.
Laura – Not having any get-togethers helps make it easier, doesn’t it?
i have started to cook more meals with vegetables and fish and started to cut back on red meat and simple carbs
Pebs27 – Good for you for making those changes!
So far, it seems like I’m having one “event” per week, which coincides nicely with my one splurge per week maintenance plan. If I decide to do any baking (which I’m considering), I’ll pack an overnight kit and move to the gym for a few weeks.
Cammy – Whoa, you’re baking now??? Let me know how moving to the gym goes…
It’s not a problem for me since I am just eating my usual foods. I don’t work outside the house and have no parties to attend, no big family gatherings or anything else out of the ordinary. For me, my weight is a problem year-round because I love to cook and, especially, bake!
herblady – I’m glad you don’t have the temptations of all the gatherings. Now, what are you going to do about all that baking?
The gym is still my friend during these cold winter months — which helps. What’s also good is to eat before I go to parties — then I won’t be ravenous!
Rachel – I have such a hard time getting to the gym in the winter- I tend to hibernate! Thankfully, I have some good workout DVDs at home.
As crazy as it sounds, I’ve kept 150 lbs off for 30 years by not deprivng myself, but, enjoying what I really want, and making better choices when ‘events’ come around. DOn’t deny yourself a little, because it will turn into ALOT!!! Go chocolate!!
RussianBlondie – I’m with you on the not depriving myself. Thankfully, I’m a healthy eater overall, so when I want a little treat, it all balances out.
On another note – good for you for losing and keeping off 150 pounds for 30 years! I never knew that about you! I would love to feature you as one of FFTV’s Weight Loss WooHoos! – are you up for it?
i exercise first thing in the morning throughout the holiday season
Tracking……tracking………tracking. I’m tracking all my points & watching what I eat carefully.
Teresa – tracking makes such a difference, doesn’t it? It really keeps me on my toes!
Keeping up with my exercise regime and drinking lots of water.
I’m just staying active and not over-doing it.
I am trying nit to eat after 7pm at night. when the weather is good ,I try to take a 3-5 mile walk at least once a week.
I just try and eat small portions!
I am trying to get the reccommended amount of water. I have a tendency not to drink enough. I am also trying to keep up with some sort of aerobic exercise.
I just have to say no to treats, which unfortunately I’m not real good at. If I get started I don’t seem to know when to quit. One thing I’m doing is not baking much this year, and what I am making I’m giving it ALL away.
McKim – That’s the key – to give away all the cookies, etc.
I try to eat an apple before each meal and say no to junk.
It is struggle with me around the holidays not to gain weight. I drink alot of water and will not eat anything after 5:30 at night.
Tamara – You can do it!
I try to make time to walk daily.
I try to walk everyday even through the holidays. I also try to fill up on fruits and veggies instead of the bad stuff.
Sonya – Good for you for sticking to your exercise routine through the busy holidays!
The new Weight Watchers chocolates look delicious! My holiday plan is one I learned in Weight Watchers. I eat a salad or drink some hot veggie soup before I go to a party. At work, I usually take my own food, and avoid the tons of fattening food we have around this time of year. I allow myself one or two small treats, then I stay away from the kitchen area. I find that having some lo-cal hot tea in a yummy flavor helps, too….as a substitute for eating too much.
I am going to the gym several days a week. But I would have to spend 4 hours on the treadmill to compensate for the calories I am consuming during the holidays. I am committed, though, to trying to get back to my routine after the stress of the holidays.
I am trying to make sure I exercise when I have the chance, but I know that won’t be often enough. So I am making my time with family more about the time together and less about the food. After each meal I want to get as far away from the food as possible and do fun activities with my family, games and outdoor walks. I want to lose weight more than I want to eat any particular food this christmas. I just need to keep that fact in the forefront of my mind while making my choices.
Alicia – That’s so wonderful that you are making this time more about being together than about the food. Sounds like you really have your priorities straight.
I eat slowly and fill up on water and fiber rich foods that make me feel fuller. Thanks for the chance.

I started my new years resolution early. I joined LA Fitness and am taking weekly yoga and pilates classes in addition to using the scary exercise machines. I am also eating more fish and chicken instead of french fries and burgers.
BTW the weight watchers turtles are SOOO good. I would eat those even if I was not watching my weight. mmmmm….
ferriza2(at)yahoo(dot)com
Danielle – Wow, an early New Year’s resolution – that’s fabulous! You’re way ahead of the game.
I work out 6 days a week
I am still getting to the gym three times a week.
I go to the gym 6 days a week. I eat small meals during the day
I go for the veggies and salads first so I don’t eat as much of the other stuff
tvollowitz at aol dot com
i’m not going to make pies at christmas mverno@roadrunner.com
I’ve been running and lifting and then refueling with lean protein right before going to meals and events. I find even though I’ve expended a ton of calories (I’m a collegiate athlete so the workouts are quite intense) I actually don’t want anything crazy, but in case I am tempted I think of my goals and I also think about the law of diminishing returns and go for it in manageable servings without feeling guilty…these chocolates look perfect!
Daniel – The law of diminishing returns, eh? Yes, just a manageable serving is definitely the way to go!
I’ll eat a bunch during the holidays, and then make going to the gym my New Year’s Resolution!
Hmmm…
I read your blog and you reinforce my determination not to gain weight. Every day I keep up my exercise program.
Thank you for the contest. Happy holidays.
Pat – Thank you for the kind words. I am so glad to hear FFTV is helping you! Happy Holidays to you, as well.
Drink some water before, I go to a gathering and even have a good sized healthy snack – to fill me up before I go — and I plan on bringing some snacks of my own to share with others.
exercise 2x day
I LOVE CHOCOLATE
I am trying to maintain my exercise routine through the holidays, and to cut down on meals out. I drive a lot in my job, so lunch is often on the road. I am trying to make better choices with restaurant meals.
rlr260 – It’s tough when you’re on the road to control what you eat, but you can definitely do it! Glad you are making an effort to make better choices.
Diet swiss miss cocoa keeps me full, and feeling festive.
I practice moderation. Knowing that if I don’t try the treats or food will make me crave them, I take a taste and eat as little as possible. But that helps me feel like I didn’t miss out on the cake or cookies or ham or whatever and I feel better about it.
Carolyn – I totally agree that you should not deprive yourself. You just have to balance that with not going overboard. Like you said, it’s all about moderation.
I just try to avoid the desert and drink water instead of the soda or other such drinks.
I try to exercise everyday, and try to eat the holiday food in moderation.
EAT IN MODERATION AND EXERCISE
I’ve upped my water intake and keep weight watcher treats handy for when I need a sweet “fix.”
I’m allowing myself 1/2 a serving of the big calorie foods and increasing the amount of exercise I normally do.
Happy Holidays!
Sharon – Happy Holidays to you, too!
Well I keep to my diet and exercise including lots of running. On days of events, dinners and so on I do indulge followed by a day of running and back to diet. You got to stick to your diet and exercise and lots of water. I usually diet for 12 days and have 2 days free. I do the Mayo clinic diet not a bad diet at least for me. Some people don’t like it, I just love it and I’ve lost a lot of weight on it. Very Happy.
just eat a bit at a time and not over do it thanks
A Large bowl of hot oatmeal topped with dried fruits and fatfree cream-every morning!
It isn’t easy but I just try and stay away from the holiday treats.
Thanks for the contest. Happy holidays.
Trying to walk the dogs more, and play with them more. Also trying to fill up more on low calorie vegetables and fruits, instead of alot of high carb cookies and cakes.
Nothing. Wrong, I know. But true. Weird thing is, I think I have lost a couple of pounds. Stress maybe?
LissaL – Maybe because of exercise?
Trying to watch the trans fats and eating more fiber
I’ve been using my Wii Fit more often for a fun exercise alternative.
I can’t do anything right now–knee surgery 1st week in January-but a great diet will be in my New Years resolution-that will include weight watchers, for sure.
L. Cotton – Good luck with your knee surgery!
I keep fresh fruit and veggies in the refrigerator and nuts on the counter, so that I can snack on them instead of high calorie items. No parties planned this year, so as long as I can stay away from the dangerous foods at the family meals, I should be OK.
Carol – Sounds like you have a good plan – smooth sailing for you.
I am hosting food activites ONLY at my home for a while…then I am in control of what is being served.
Trish – So smart!
Eat in moderation and drink lots of water.
I try to stick to going to the gym 3x a week. Plus I nurse my baby, so that helps big time with shedding those extra calories!
Portion control and keep excercising.
I am walking for exercise every day with my Mom! Thanks! senekers@comcast.net
I’m the only female metal grinder at the foundery where I work. The work is very physical. I don’t really have an appetite when I’m at work. I try to snack around on nuts and dry fruit. However; I crave sugar at night after I get still. I try to over come this with distraction. I get up and do something. It don’t matter what I do,just as long as I can get my mind busy until the craving is forgotten.
I use a smaller plate so my portions look larger than they are, that and drinking lots of fluids
singermagic1(at)yahoo(dot)com
I’m trying to go for a 3 mile run every other morning, thanks!
I can get my Chocolate Cravings out by drinking sugarfree cocoa at night! pop in a few mini marshmallows or coolwhip and i’m still skinny and guilt-free by morning.
I am trying to stay away from the high carb foods and trying to exercise everyday.
I am trying to just eat my regular 3 meals a day and go to the gym 5-6 times a week as usual. Thanks for the tip about eating a few nuts before a party
Becca – You’re welcome! It really helps me.
Eat in moderation and exercise
I plan on making more use of our stairway this holiday. Hopefully the exercise will help…
I am going to eat filling foods BEFORE going to holiday parties this year!
I am making sure I get a small workout each day even if it is just riding my indoor bike for half an hour. I also taste everything. If you just take a bite or two, it will keep you from going overboard on things you think you can’t have. You can eat anything if you just stick to a couple of bites.
I am watching my portion sizes right now too in the days leading up to Christmas Day. I also avoid the grocery store as much as I can. I make my list and check it twice. LOL..so I don’t have to keep going back and facing all that temptation. All those prepared goodies can tempt you. Just remember that old saying, “Nothing taste as good as thin feels”..so don’t give in.
eveh – Good for you for squeezing in just a few minutes of exercise. Does avoiding the grocery store really help?
I drink plenty of water.
I have vowed to eat NO chocolate this entire holiday season.
I will try to eat a healthy snack before going to the holiday parties. Then I don’t feel so tempted. I am taking my healthy treats to my mom’s also so I won’t be tempted by her goodies. Thanks!
I try not to have the sweets around and if I’m going to bake it will be lowfat.
