First New York City took on trans fats, then it got restaurants to post calories on menus. Now, the Big Apple’s Health Department is fighting salt. It wants food manufacturers and restaurant chains across the country to cut the amount of salt in their products – the goal is to reduce the amount of salt in packaged and restaurant food by 25 percent over the next five years.
