A little Weight Watchers cheese here… some Voskos Greek yogurt there… and a bottle of Healthy Balance Juice Cocktail to boot. These are just a few of the food and drink samples I’ve been trying over the past month or so.
My thoughts:
- I switched to Greek-style yogurt sometime last year because it’s creamier, has more protein than regular yogurt, and doesn’t have any preservatives or artificial stuff in it. I had never heard of Voskos before now, but I’ve been really enjoying it and the 11-15 grams of protein in a 5.3-ounce serving. Check out all the flavors here.
- I’ve loved Laughing Cow cheese since I was a kid. Now the French spread has some competition with the new Gourmet Cheese Wedges from Weight Watchers. They have just 30 calories per wedge and come in four flavors – Original Swiss, Garlic & Herb, Parmesan Peppercorn, and Jalapeno Pepper. The Jalapeno Pepper was my favorite – very flavorful with a kick.
- Honestly, I didn’t even get to try the Reduced-Sugar Healthy Balance Juice Cocktail because my husband is the juice guy in our household and he drank it. But what I can tell you is Healthy Balance is Old Orchard’s line of low-sugar, low-carb, low-cal beverages sweetened with Splenda. The juice cocktails come in several flavors including Cranberry Grape, Pomegranate Cranberry, and Apple Raspberry. Also, you must check out the Healthy Balance Spa Vacation sweepstakes here!
Speaking of giveaways, here’s what we’ve got for you this week here at FFTV: three winners will each get coupons for:

When I make smoothies, I like adding plain yogurt and apple juice to fresh fruit to make it more healthy and to give the flavors a nice mystery.
Mystery, huh? Interesting…
I’m totally digging Greek yogurt to clean up dips and give them a shot of protein especially guac!
I really want to try adding yogurt to my guac – sounds so good!
No need for a giveaway entry. I’m just stopping in to see what everyone else is doing with these items. Me? I just eat them plain, or in the case of yogurt, with some fruit and/or granola and/or mini-chocolate chips and/or peanut butter. Oh, and I did use yogurt in cookie recipes at Christmas! But that’s probably not what you were looking for, I’m thinking.
Yogurt in cookie recipes? What was the yogurt substituting?
I make juice smoothies with yogurt, strawberries, and ice cubes. My sister gave me the unconventional recipe, it’s good.
Mmmm…
Tzatziki is good to make with greek yogurt..
Ingredients:
3 tbsp. olive oil
1 tbsp. vinegar
2 cloves garlic, minced finely
1/2 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. white pepper
1 cup greek yogurt, strained
1 cup sour cream
2 cucumbers, peeled, seeded and diced
1 tsp. chopped fresh dill
Preparation:
Combine olive oil, vinegar, garlic, salt, and pepper in a bowl. Mix until well combined. Using a whisk, blend the yogurt with the sour cream. Add the olive oil mixture to the yogurt mixture and mix well. Finally, add the cucumber and chopped fresh dill. Chill for at least two hours before serving.
Thanks very much for sharing this recipe!
I substitute plain Greek yogurt in any recipe that calls for sour cream or mayonnaise, for half of the amount of that ingredient. I also use it in place of sour cream on baked potatoes & on Mexican food.
I use plain yogurt and fresh fruit top with homemade granola for a good breakfast or lunch
Gianna your Tzadiki sauce sounds better then mine I will have to try it. I love the cheese wedges they make great quessadillas when my family is eating the less healthier versions. And I like them on cucumber rounds or apple wedges.
I make a pretty good broccoli cheese casserole with Cheese Whiz cheese spread.
If I want a creamy pasta sauce I will add fat free yogurt to my pasta sauce. It add protein and that nice creamy flavor without the extra fat of cheesy cream sauces.
I love this idea – never thought of it! Thanks for sharing.
My favorite breakfast is plain, nonfat yogurt with blueberries (fresh or frozen) and a sprinkling of granola or grape nuts.
I buy the Weight Watchers shredded cheese and sprinkle it on low calorie crackers and put in the microwave for less than 30 seconds, delicious and very few Weight Watcher points if you are following the program, which I am.

I make a really good vegetarian thai yellow curry with greek yogurt. : ) Top it on some piping hot jasmine rice and you’ve got dinner.
I use thai yellow curry paste, coconut milk, canned pineapple in light syrup, frozen vegetables (such as corn, carrots, peas), potato, either cilantro or parsley (both, if you’d like!) and greek yogurt. The yogurt makes it deliciously creamy. I sometimes add in some tofu or scrambled egg whites if I’m jonsing for protein.
Sounds really good!
I make a delicious crab dip with cheddar cheese spread!
I combine the cheese spread with avocado, mash both and use it as a base for my vege sandwiches.

Hmmm… I think it depends where you live and shop. I know Costco has good prices on Chobani Greek yogurt in bulk…

If I can ever manage to hide some of the greek yogurt to use for something besides the kids eating by the carton/case at breakfast, lunch, snack, supper….
I add yogurt to – smoothies – dips – egg and potato salads.
The kids use it to make a crazy version of no-bake chocolate, chip oatmeal cookies (like the kind they make at their Dad’s.) Because they sub yogurt for the eggs – they can eat it raw. I think it’s a cookie dough eating recipe.
Wow – that no-bake chocolate chip oatmeal cookie recipe sounds fantastic – I would love to try it!
I make a great smoothie with mixed berries, bananas and yogurt.
