Before I get to those popular searches… did you know women spend more time online than men? Eight-percent more, according to the new report from comScore, Women on the Web: How Women are Shaping the Internet. That includes social networking, instant messaging, and emails. And here’s what the comScore study found were the top 5 health-related categories women search online.
- Weight and Fitness (searches related to weight loss, diet, exercise and overall fitness)
In this category, the top 5 most searched terms are: Weight Watchers, Taco Bell, LA Fitness, P90X, Planet Fitness, and Jillian Michaels
- Health Conditions (health-related conditions or symptoms)
The top 5 most searched health conditions were: Depression, bipoloar disorder, diabetes, fibromyalgia, and gall bladder symptoms
- Doctor Searches (includes any search for an exact doctor’s name)
- WebMD (any search for WebMD or WebMD content)
- Health Insurance (searches related to health insurance in general, as well as searches for specific insurance providers)
Interesting, isn’t it? The Weight and Fitness searches are kind of random, though! Hmmm… And I wonder which health topics men search for online. Guys, help me out here…

OMG! I think most of those WebMD searches were mine.
You would blush if you could see what I search for on google! I swear that the google employees have staff meetings just to discuss it! HA!
Not a surprising list, judging from the web sites I comment on.
Though I would have thought that “Why dogs are better than men” would have been in the top 5
Thank you for your kind comment on Jody’s site, Sahar!
I like that women are searchin out their health & credible sites like WebMD. Very intersting! I ise WebMd all the time & get their newsletters too!
As for health insurance, women get screwed coming & going so no wonder they are searching that out! I know but I could not help myself!
Taco Bell? Hehehe. On another note, this is the second time I’ve heard of Planet Fitness today, and until then I had never heard of it.
I’m surprised that depression is the number one search for health conditions. I would think that it would be something more directly related to being at an unhealthy weight.
No Planet Fitness in Canada? I had not heard of it until recently, either.
Wow had no idea women were that far ahead of the guys surfin. The topics didn’t surprise me much though, except for “Taco Bell” really??? If they only realized that there in lies the problem to the their degenerative health conditions and other symptoms that were searched on Web MD.
I didn’t either! Go us? And yeah, the Taco Bell thing is a bit disturbing.
I’m totally on to that “Health Conditions” category. I need to Google, “woman sweats way too damn much since birth of fourth child”. Or maybe it’s just early menopausing? (eh-em. this is all research for a friend of mine, of course)
Taco Bell?!?! I guess that goes hand in hand with the other searches- cause and effect.
Okay Sahar, I’ll take it upon myself to be the spokesman for ALL MALE internet users. The number one topic we search for online is how to make our wives(or girlfriends, fiances, etc.) happy. Second is Taco Bell.
