But what about taking pictures of your food? <a title="Telegraph" href="http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/newstopics/politics/health/2674514/Photographing-meals-could-help-weight-loss.html" target="_blank">A recent study </a>finds when volunteers were asked to take a picture of everything they ate, they started eating healthier food.<span id="more-1704"></span></p>
<p><a href="http://fatfightertv.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2008/10/hlgcasserold.jpg"><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-1708" title="hlgcasserold" src="http://fatfightertv.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2008/10/hlgcasserold.jpg" alt="" width="251" height="332" /></a>Researchers say the photographs made people think more carefully about what they ate because they knew they had to take a picture of it.</p>
<p>So I thought it would be interesting to do our own fun little food photo experiment/contest. Here&#8217;s how it&#8217;s going to work:</p>

Every day, just email me the pictures and I will post them on FFTV. Tell me if or how taking these pictures affected you &#8211; for example, did it change what you ate? Whoever is the most consistent &#8211; i.e. takes a picture every day and sends it to me &#8211; wins. If we have a tie, we will have a drawing for the winner.</p>

<p>When Mike Wirsching tried <a title="food diaries double weight loss" href="http://fatfightertv.com/blog/2008/07/writing-down-what-you-eat/" target="_blank">food journaling</a>, he was surprised by how much food he was actually eating.<span id="more-23"></span></p>
<p>&#8220;You sure shock yourself,&#8221; says Wirsching. &#8220;You see it and you see where your calories are coming from.â€</p>
<p>Keeping track of calories keeps you accountable. Plus realizing <strong>when</strong> you eat and how you feel at the time can help you understand your eating habits.</p>
<p>Andrea Hill, Registered Dietitian, Washington Dietetic Association, explains, &#8220;By having to write all those things down, it causes people to think a little bit about why theyâ€™re making the food choices theyâ€™re making. Over time, they may find that &#8216;I realize I do eat emotionally and instead of eating, now I go do something that I enjoy and Iâ€™m eating less.&#8217;&#8221;</p>
<p>So, if eating less is your goal, try food journaling. Chances are, if you know you have to write it down&#8230; you might pass on a few things.</p>
